From a Nashville area collection these bookends are a must for the fox hunter, bibliophile, or lover of hounds and canines. They appear to be stoneware and are very heavy especially for their size. The rust color books are embellished with very regal hounds dressed in their best 19th century muted green double breasted frock coats. They carry canes and wear black tall boots, such dandies. The bookends measure 8" tall and about 3 1/4" across and have amazing detail. These would be a wonderful addition to your library, curio cabinet, or simply as a decorative element to encase leather books.
