British 1915 WWI Officer's Leather Calvary Horseshoe Pouch and Combined Sword Frog

For the well informed collector of equestriana and militariana this is an outstanding example of a Mark III British WWI officer's leather cavalry horseshoe pouch with a combined sword frog.  With the exception of a slight musty smell, this piece is in remarkable antique condition and it is nearly pristine.  All of the leather is intact as are the brass billets and buckles.  The interior has a sewn in pocket on the back side for horseshoe nails. During wartime when horses were used, keeping an extra shoe and nails was often essential for survival.  This piece also boasts the leather sheath for a 1908 M. Harvey and Company, Ltd. sword. The strap is embossed with the year, 1915.  As if this weren't enough to give it remarkable appeal, the handwritten name, Taylor is found on the inside of the fold of the pouch. It measures right at 6 3/4" wide and 6" tall. If this pouch could talk; what tales is could share!
