English Solid Brass Victorian to Edwardian Fox Form Door Stop

This lovely solid brass door stop from England has a base in fox head form and is complete with a vertical hunt whip with stylized thong.  It is from the Victorian to Edwardian period, and these Door Porters, as they are called in England, are very difficult to find in such excellent condition. It is heavy enough to easily hold the heaviest of doors in place and has felt to the bottom and rear of the fox's head to protect wooden doors and floors.  It measures 16 3/4" tall, 5" wide and is marked "England" on the side of the fox's head and on the rear of the whip. This would add tastefully to a hunt box, your library, or a living space in your home.  What a wonderful gift!
