This is a highly sought Wedgewood creamer pitcher. It is vintage Wedgewood in the D'Ye Keen John Peel pattern. It has a decorated bas relief image of a fox hunt that extends around the entire pitcher. The handle is a hound that looks like its checking inside the pitcher for the fox. It measures 4 1/2" tall and is marked for the maker, Barleston, England on its base. The history of the song for which the pattern is named is fascinating. The song was written in the 1820's and draws the most wonderful picture of fox hunting in England during that time and of the huntsman, John Peel. This piece is pristine, from the estate of Virginia Jared and is ready to become a welcome member of your family's hunting collection.
