Trophy Cup from the Golden Age of Horse Shows 1932 Hampton Horse Show
What a wonderful find! From the golden age of horse shows, this Wallace sterling silver goblet was awarded as a trophy during the 1932 Hampton Horse Show. It is hand engraved and reads: "Hampton Horse Show, 1932, won by Master Phillip Stanhope, owned by John Greene Curley II". This could have been a precursor to the current Hampton Classic or the East Hampton Horse Show, but we are not completely sure. Whatever the case this trophy is fabulous, has a very good weight of over 143 grams, measures 4 1/2" tall and the opening of the cup is 3 7/8" across. There is a small flattened area along the rear of the cup that measures less than an inch. This would make an excellent gift to the trophy collector or to your own equestrian silver collection.
