This lovely silver wash over brass vesta case is an excellent example of the Art Nouveau period. Beautifully adorned with the bas relief image of a point to point jockey racing through the course, he and his runner are framed with graceful scrolling vines, leaves and grasses. But what makes this case so unique is that it comes with its period wood matches, 12 of the original 14! There is a bit of a silver rub on one corner that tells us the owner was probably left handed. The hinge is tight and the top fits very securely. It is a wonderful antique match safe worthy of your collection or of that of some you love.
