Architectural Element Oak Panel Hunting Dog with Oak Leaves and Acorns English

This beautiful antique panel was made in England of English Oak and features the noble profile of a working dog.  He is enhanced on both sides with oak leaves and acorns. The entire piece measures 20 1/4" long, 4" tall and the dog's head measures 4 1/2" wide and 3" tall and 1 1/2" deep. It is a very substantial piece with wonderful weight and dates to about 1880. It is in outstanding condition with a small chip to the back of the piece, and was possibly part of a chest of drawers. It would look beautiful as a decorative piece above a door, incorporated in a mantle, or used in an elegant tack room.
