Brooch Reverse Carved Painted Crystal Brace of Quail 14kt Gold
The carving on this crystal is so lifelike that when turned and viewed from the side, the quail look like they are actually flying. They are remarkable. From a Florida collection, this nearly perfect c. 1920 brooch is a reverse carved and painted crystal encased in a 14kt yellow gold frame. The base of the frame is adorned with a cluster of rushes, such an outstanding detail for quail habitat. It measures 1" tall by 1 1/4" wide. It is marked 14kt on the reverse along with a capital N inside a circle. We believe the maker to be F.H. Noble but are attempting to confirm this. The claps closes smoothly and securely. What a wonderful piece for the bird hunter or watcher to own.
