From an English collection, this cast iron antique plaque, probably of the Victorian era, is of a leaping stag inside a decorative oval frame. It is a good weight, and easily hung if desired. It measures 14 1/4" long and 13" tall, and about 1/4" thick. The frame is decorated with Ancanthas leaves at both the finial and the decorative base. The open air spaces in the frame appear to be of stylized French hunting horns. It is in remarkable condition for an outdoor piece of this age and is without cracks, fissures or bends. The rust and flaking white paint give it character and interest, but could be removed if desired. This is a lovely piece.
