There are stick pins and then there are stick pins. With its known provenance, this one is in a class by itself. This beautiful stick pin, once belonging to Elizabeth Dunn (1936-2017), was from her estate at Springfield Farm located on The Plains Road, Middleburg, Virginia. She was an avid dog breeder, fox hunter, and horse racing aficionado. The pin is 18 kt yellow gold and the hand painted reverse crystal image of a black retriever is accented with a tan to brown collar and soft brown eye. The reverse is covered with removable framed glass and may be used as a locket. The stem has a rope twist keeping it more securely in place. The pin measures 2 1/4" long and the crystal is 3/4" in diameter. This is one of our favorite pieces, and a must for the dog lover and one who appreciates wonderful and unique antiques.
