Whip Gentleman's Vintage Leather and Horn With Thong and Popper
From a Maryland estate comes this gentleman's hunt whip. The handle is horn, with beautiful cut work, and inscribed with the initials IBH. We believe those to stand for the Iron Bridge Hunt which is now the Iron Bridge Howard County Hunt. There are also the initials JAM, probably belonging to the former owner. The whip is in excellent vintage to new condition with a leather stitched and wrapped shaft which extends from the handle to the gut. The gut, keeper, and thong appear to be recently and beautifully replaced. The royal blue popper is well attached and in good condition. The overall length is 81 1/2", the handle and shaft are 17 1/2" long making the thong and popper 64" or over 5' in length. This is a very sturdy, masculine whip and ready to be used in the field now.
